Allsops Celebrates 50 Years
In 1959 Bob Allsop set up a small but efficient fabrication shop on the outskirts of Huddersfield providing a high quality, high capacity service catering for the needs of a booming industrial Yorkshire. Starting with just three employees, we grew to become a company that now employs 120 people with an annual turnover in excess of £10million and one of the most respected names in the production of high quality sheet metal components and fabrications.
We accredit much of the company’s recent success to the introduction of state-of-the-art equipment in 1990. The installation of a Pullmax 6C CNC punching machine revolutionised the business, improving speed, accuracy, flexibility, control and programming, whilst reducing production costs.
Paul Goodwin who became Managing Director of Allsops in 1993 continued the investment in CNC equipment, which gave us the capability of bending complex components accurately and in one handling. That year also saw the introduction of laser cutting and the investment has continued with the introduction of further Pullmax and Bystronic machinery through which we were able to double our turnover in just two years.
In 2001, we moved to larger premises but our ongoing investment in new technologies continues to ensure we stay ahead of our competitors. Even in the current difficult trading conditions, we continue to invest for the future, and feel we are well positioned to meet the challenges ahead.
